Last Thursday Michael and Oded teamed up with Clif and Co. at the Cava Capitola wine Bar for a fun evening of Longboard Wines, great nibbles and even greater company. Guests were offered a flight of 3 wines for $10 – our 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, the 2007 Dakine Merlot and the 2007 Point Break Blend. There’s something about the proximity to a good surf break (steps away from Pleasure Point) that made the wines want to jump out of the bottle and hug you… Of course, we are not objective, our wines always taste good to us! Check the place out next time you visit Santa Cruz.
We got to stay at the newly remodeled Dream Inn, check out the view from our balcony or better yet – book a stay and make sure you visit AQUARIUS, the awesome restaurant on the property, with views that go forever, great food and friendly staff! Makes sense that Joie De Vivre (JDV) is running the property, makes you want to live there forever.
Lately, there has been a lot of buzz in the wine media about the objectivity of wine tastings and wine scores. In fact, when I think of the volumes of books, essays, blogs and discussion threads devoted to this I can’t help but smile (ok, mybe smirk…) and think: “what a waste of time” Just go and have yourself a beautiful day and the wines you drink will taste as good as your day!
